What you'll do
Be the first to greet our newest neighbors! This team stocks the pantry with culturally appropriate groceries and greets new arrivals at the airport with a warm Oklahoma welcome. They provide new arrivals with transportation to their new home and serve them their first warm meal in Tulsa!
Time Commitment
As needed, 2-3 hours
Responsibilities
Arrive at the airport before flight arrives and locate case manager or US tie (if applicable).
Search for client with IOM badge that matches case info
Assist with collecting luggage and taking to case manager or US tie’s vehicle.
Orientate the family to their new home and safety procedures
Ensure family has a culturally-appropriate, warm meal
Log your volunteer hours
Report any concerns to Rising Village staff
*Welcome team members may complete one or all of the tasks based on their agreement with case manager and volunteer coordinator

Additional Info
Volunteer will receive client’s flight number, case size, names and ages of clients. You can check the flight for delays on the day of arrival. RV staff will notify you if there are any cancellations.

Give client keys to their home
Show how to lock/unlock the door
Show how to use the thermostat
Show how to use the toilet and shower
Show how to use the oven/stovetop/microwave
Give them caseworker’s phone number
Tell them case worker will visit the next day
Training & On-boarding
Attend the in-person volunteer training (1hr) before starting at the Rising Village Office (multiple dates available once you apply)
